A Fantasmagorical Stage Musical!
On this page:
Chitty Chity Bang Bang opened in London in April
2002 and in New York City on April 28, 2005. The show is adapted from the original motion picture by Jeremy Sams. Music
& lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman.
I saw the
show in London on Monday, January 27, 2003. It was a magical evening! See
more photos from the day that the New York
production's box office opened.
This is the first stage adaptation of the film
made from Ian Fleming's classic story and includes the songs Truly Scrumptious, Toot
Sweets, Hushabye Mountain and the Oscar-nominated title song Chitty
Chitty Bang Bang.
Choreography is by Gillian Lynne, design is by
Anthony Ward, and the show is directed by Adrian Noble, the recent artistic director of
the Royal Shakespeare Company. Lighting by Mark Henderson and sound by Andrew Bruce.
Orchestrations and dance arrangements by Chris Walker. Musical direction and supervision
by Robert Scott.
With sensational sets, stunning special
effects and brimming with memorable songs by the Sherman Brothers including Truly
Scrumptious, Toot Sweets, Hushabye Mountain, and its Oscar Nominated title song, Chitty
Chitty Bang Bang - this is the ultimate High-Flying Stage Musical.
The enthralling story of the adventures
of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the magical car as it sails the seas and flies through the air
will bring back a host of memories. Chitty's eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts and his
enchanting children Jemima and Jeremy, join the truly scrumptious Truly Scrumptious and
his batty father Grandpa Potts, to outwit the dastardly Baron and the evil Child Catcher
in this non-stop adventure for all ages.
This ravishing production promises to
be the most exciting theatrical event of the year.
